2017 State Championship Danville High School Forensics Team Honored at Commission meeting

The Danville High School Forensics team started their season in February by winning the KESDA Forum and remaining the only school in Kentucky to win all four contests in one year! They continued in March by winning their 21st straight State speech tournament title and qualifying for Grand Nationals which will be held in May of 2017. Next, the DHS Forensics team completed a clean sweep of the four state speech tournaments with a win at the Kentucky District of the National Speech and Debate Association contest that was held at Centre College on March 17 & 18.

The forensics team will compete at the largest academic contest in the world, representing Danville Kentucky in June 2017 at the National Speech and Debate Association tournament. 

These are just a few of the accomplishments of the Danville High School Forensics team! 

Members of the team are:  Abigail Anderson, Matt Ballard, Sara Barringer, Caroline Bugg, Kami Chappell, Billy Critchfield, Katie Critchfield, Kyle Dean, Celeste Fieberg, Grayson Fowlkes, Paige Glasser, Natalie Grubbs, Libby Hale, Charlie Hall, Virginia Harp, Haley Hopkins, Mackenzie Howe, Evey Kinkade, Havannah Martin, Emma Merryman, Barrett Minks, Becky Mohr, McCallum Morley, Madelyn Mullins, Samantha Ssallee, Grace Sheene, Kelsie Steber, Claire Strysick, Joseth Warner and Coach Steve Meadows. 

The City of Danville Board of Commissioners congratulate the Danville High School forensics team and also encourage the citizens of Danville to join them in congratulating the team members on their numerous accomplishments!  The City Commission thanks the Danville High School Forensics team for being such positive role models for the youth of our community.  Congratulations and good luck at Nationals!
