Development & Construction
Requirements
All development and non-residential construction projects within the City of Danville are required to submit an Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Plan, and a Drainage Plan to the City Engineer's Office for approval before a land disturbance may occur.  The plans may be submitted by email or delivered to the City Engineer's Office at 219 West Walnut, Danville, KY 40422.

The Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection has recently instituted its new Stormwater Permit for General Construction Activities.  Under the new permit all construction projects disturbing more than one acre, or are a portion of a larger development, must submit a Notice of Intent to the Division of Water at least 7 days prior to the disturbance.  More information and a link to the electronic NOI program may be found at the Division of Water's Webpage.

Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Plan
The Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Plan details how the project manager will ensure that no sediment or other pollutants will leave the site during wet weather during construction.  The appropriate and accepted methods to be used are detailed in Chapter 11 of the Stormwater Design Manual, and the plan must be prepared by an Engineer.  The City encourages project managers to reduce the exposed soil on a site, and the prompt reestablishment of grass cover on disturbed areas.  The penalties for not abiding to these requirements are spelled out in the City's Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Ordinance.

Drainage Plan
The Drainage Plan describes how the runoff from the site will be managed after the project is completed.  All sites must meet the requirements for water quantity, and the sites disturbing more than one acre of soil must meet the requirements for water quality.  The appropriate and accepted methods to be used are detailed in Chapter 10 of the Stormwater Design Manual, and the plan must be prepared by an Engineer.  A zoning permit cannot be obtained without prior approval by the City Engineer's office of the submitted drainage plan.
