Qualifications

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid Kentucky drivers license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • If prior military service, must have received an honorable discharge.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must not be prohibited by federal or state law from possessing a firearm

Documentation

You must successfully complete:

  • A complete background investigation
  • A drug screen test
  • An interview
  • A physical fitness test (POPS standards)
  • A polygraph examination
  • A written test
  • Certified Officers are exempt from portions of this process
