Stanford Avenue Trail Crossing

Rendering of a Pedestrian Refuge Island

Project Description

The City has been awarded a grant to construct a pedestrian refuge island on Stanford Avenue where Clarks Run Trail and Henson Trail currently meet.  This project will provide a safe and effective crossing for trail users such as pedestrians and cyclists.  The Federal Highway Administration lists Pedestrian Refuge Islands as one of the their Proven Safety Countermeasures with a 56% reduction in pedestrian crashes.  See below for a map of the trails and the location of the new crossing.  Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2022.
