Each division is responsible for a portion of the overall utility system.

Water TreatmentWater plant (16)

The City of Danville Water Treatment Department treats the water pumped from Herrington Lake to meet local, state and federal water quality standards to ensure the health and safety of the community.  The Coldiron-Watkins Water Treatment Plant, located on Lexington Avenue, has been upgraded several times since its construction in 1924, to reach its current capacity of 10 million gallons per day.

The City of Danville Water Distribution System is made up of approximately 265 miles of water mains that serve over 10,500 customers in four water districts. The Water Distribution Department maintains city distribution lines, reads meters, and responds to service requests.

Wastewater Rehabilitation & Treatment  (Sewer)

dry-creek-wtp1The City of Danville’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was originally constructed in 1981, with expansion and renovation in 1998.  No major improvements have been made since 1998. The WWTP has a permitted capacity of 6.5 million gallons per day (MGD).  Average daily flows to the WWTP are approximately 5.8 MGD.  The WWTP is located at 1970 Stanford Road, and discharges to Clarks Run. Improvements to the WWTP are being implemented as a two-phase project.
