The City of Danville Hosts the 2022 Economic Development Symposium

On Friday, October 21, regional community and economic development leaders came together for the 2022 Danville-Boyle County Economic Development Symposium held at the CentreWorks facility in Downtown Danville. Attendees from Danville-Boyle County, and surrounding communities, were encouraged to face economic development challenges by exploring how neighboring communities can work together to meet their development, recruitment or expansion goals.

Danville’s City Manager, Earl Coffey, who organizes this event each year, said “The idea is to align the thoughts of community officials who are leading our Economic Development efforts. Bringing everyone to the table, not just from Danville, but from surrounding counties, will allow us to plan, prepare and respond to the changing needs of our community in a more efficient manner. We have to work together to create an environment which invites, and supports, healthy economic activity and growth.”

The line-up of presenters included Chris Wooldridge, the Director for Economic Development at Murray State University; Kimberly Rosetta, the Vice President of Economic Development with the Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation; Brad Thomas, the Manager for Economic Development with Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives; and Brittany Cox, the Associate Economic Development Manager with Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. The presentations are available at the links below.

Coffey hopes to expand on this program each year, by reaching a broader audience of City, County and Chamber of Commerce representatives, allowing each of them to learn and grow as a group for a stronger impact.

“We believe the area served by Danville and Boyle County is in the perfect position for a period of growth. Preparation is key to ensuring this growth will be sustainable, and complementary to existing business activity in the area.”, says Coffey.
