The City of Danville completed the Splash Pad at the Lexington Avenue Park on the grounds of the Coldiron-Watkins Water Treatment Plant. Danville Public Works and Utilities employees had a grand opening Thursday August 22nd. Video Here
Jave Contracting completed the Splash Pad surface by pouring red concrete to mark where the water sprays. Thirty concrete footers under the red concrete Splash Pad support 26 Waterplay® fixtures shooting water in numerous different ways to entice children to run through or figure out how some move to allow them to control where the jets spray.
The unofficial first Splash Pad user was a worker who inadvertently opened a flange before the water pressure was turned off, looking like a sailor controlling leaks in a WWII submarine movie! A few young visitors got to take part in early testing.
