    January 13, 2023 - March 23, 2023

    Art Center of the Bluegrass

The Art Center of the Bluegrass is consistently working to amplify the perspectives of artists from diverse backgrounds and we are proud to showcase the creativity of artists with disabilities through our show: Connections: Celebrating Artists with Disabilities. There will be three interrelated exhibits featuring works from national, regional, and local artists. The exhibit in the Grand Hall will showcase five national artists. The Art Center commissioned these artists to create works with the general theme of Connections. The works in the Upstairs Gallery is a curated exhibit by Arts for All Kentucky. Arts for All Kentucky connects artists with various types of disabilities to arts opportunities. The third exhibit features artwork by students with disabilities throughout Boyle County, curated from the Art Center’s long standing connections with local special education teachers in the area. These works can be seen throughout our Historic Hallway on the second floor.

Did you know that it costs on average $7,178 per month for a semi private room at a residential care facility in Kentucky? Have you considered the lack of equitable, accessible resources that support us as we age? What about the fact that our current systems do little to address disparities in race, ethnicity, gender, etc. as it relates to care as we age? Gain some clarity and confidence around these questions by joining your community members for a unique panel of leaders in innovative, inclusive approaches to care as we age. We are ecstatic to have Dr. Richard Hempel MD, Dr. Amanda Pruitt, PT, DPT, Founder of Geriactive, and Mandy Emmons LPN, Founder of Agewell speak on their experiences and what we can do as a community to support each other. Both Dr. Pruitt and Mrs. Emmons have recently founded innovative companies to meet some of these complex needs–this is your chance to engage with professionals working to ensure a more inclusive community as we age!
