Every Third Thursday, your downtown retailers and restaurants will stay open until 8pm (or later) with special promotions and events happening in the businesses downtown. Make it a night out with friends and/or family and enjoy all that Danville has to offer. This Third Thursday, September 21, it's time to make room for the holiday goodies! You'll find BIG discounts and lemon-themed drinks and dining specials all around Downtown Danville!

Kentucky Humanities, in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution, will be bringing the SPARK! Places of Innovation exhibit to Kentucky! This exhibit explores innovation and invention in rural communities and features diverse stories gathered from across the nation. Panels featuring photographs, interactive stations, games and videos will bring a multi-layered experience to reveal the leaders, successes, and innovation in each town. Throughout the run of the SPARK exhibit, adults and youth can visit our Innovation Stations. These creative spaces will provide visitors with opportunities to explore their own inventiveness through a variety of hands-on activities. School field trips tot he exhibit are available on Wednesdays & Thursdays beginning September 13th.Transportation grants are available! More information is available on the Library website.

Join us for a book club discussion on the morning of the third Thursday of every month! In September, we will discuss Circling the Sun by Paula McLain. Copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk. (Ages 18+)

Calling all gamers! Join us each week for YA Gaming Guild, where tweens and teens can relax, play games, have some snacks, and hang out with other gamers. We play all kinds of games, including video games, board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, and more. Whatever we’re playing each week, you’re sure to have a great time! New and returning gamers are always welcome at YA Gaming Guild! (Ages 11-18)

Join us at the Library for an author visit and book signing with Danville native, Robby Henson. Learn about his new book, Loud Water. Copies of the book will be on sale, courtesy of Plaid Elephant Books. About the author: Robby Henson is a filmmaker, screenwriter, theater director and arts-behind-bars instructor. He received his M.F.A. from NYU’s graduate film school and has written and directed several documentaries for PBS as well as five feature films - The Badge, Pharaoh’s Army, The Visitation, House and Thr3e. His films have been seen at Sundance and around the world and he is a member of the Writers Guild of America. He currently teaches screenwriting at the University of Kentucky and is also Artistic Director of Pioneer Playhouse, a regional theater in central Kentucky, where he runs their outreach program Voices Inside that instructs incarcerated writers in writing and performance skills so as to fight recidivism. This is his first novel.
