Atmos Energy Continues Infrastructure Improvements in Danville

During Atmos Energy’s 2009 rate case, the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) for its service territory in Kentucky.  This program enables Atmos Energy to replace bare steel and other aging infrastructure.

“Atmos Energy is committed to safety.  It is our number one priority,” said Jimmy Dale Smith, Danville’s Operations Supervisor, adding “This project will begin around October 1st.”  The project will replace bare steel pipes with new High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.  Atmos Energy will replace 5,047 feet of bare steel with new pipes.  We will also replace 76 service lines, which are the lines from the street to the meter.  We will work with individual homeowners as the project progresses.  The project should conclude in late Feb 2026, notwithstanding any unforeseen issues.  The cost of the project is approximately $557,000.

Streets involved:

  • E Broadway St from Wilderness Rd to just North of N 3rd St.
  • S 1st St from E Broadway St to E Walnut St.
  • E Walnut St from N 2nd St to 116 E Walnut St
  • N 3rd St from E Broadway St to E Lexington Ave
  • N 2nd St from E Broadway St to E Lexington Ave
  • Alley between N 2nd St and N 3rd St from E Broadway St

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers and community as we begin improving our system for the city of Danville.
