City of Danville selects The Wren’s Nest Daycare & Learning Center as childcare provider for Jennie Rogers Community Center

Danville, KY — The City of Danville is pleased to announce that The Wren’s Nest Daycare and Learning Center has been selected as the new childcare provider to operate out of the east wing of Jennie Rogers Community Center. The decision follows an extensive, competitive review process as the City works to expand access to high-quality, affordable childcare for Danville families.

A selection committee interviewed three potential providers and evaluated proposals across a comprehensive set of criteria, including operational planning, curriculum and program quality, business and financial capacity, experience and qualifications, partnership strategies, and facility management plans. The Wren’s Nest stood out for its strong track record, robust curriculum, dedication to family engagement and whole-child development.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Wren’s Nest to Danville,” said Mayor James J.H. Atkins “Access to dependable, high-quality childcare is essential for our local workforce. The Wren’s Nest brings depth of experience, a commitment to excellence, and a compassionate approach that aligns with our community’s values.”

About The Wren’s Nest Daycare & Learning Center

The Wren’s Nest is a licensed Type I childcare facility based in Harrodsburg. Their mission centers on providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally rich environment where children ages 6 weeks to 12 years can grow, explore, and thrive. With a philosophy grounded in supporting the “whole child,” The Wren’s Nest works to create a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere where children are cared for, encouraged, and prepared for long-term success.

As an active participant in the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Kentucky All STARS, and the Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership (ECCAP), The Wren’s Nest brings a strong foundation of quality, nutritional support, affordability, and access. Their presence in Danville, while maintaining the Harrodsburg location, will expand local childcare capacity while helping families and employers address one of the region’s most pressing workforce challenges.

Programs and Curriculum

At the Jennie Rogers location, The Wren’s Nest plans to offer a full continuum of programming, including:

  • Infant Room (6 weeks–12 months)
  • Crawler Classroom (12–18 months)
  • Walker Room (18–23 months)
  • Two-Year-Old Classrooms
  • Preschool Classrooms (ages 3–4)
  • Before- and After-School Programs for school-aged children

The Wren’s Nest will implement the nationally recognized Experience Curriculum, an evidence-based, play-focused learning system aligned with Kentucky Early Learning standards. This curriculum supports social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development, offering a balance of structured learning and child-led exploration across literacy, math, science, arts, and more.

Families will have real-time insight into their child’s daily activities through Brightwheel, a leading early education platform. Teachers share photos, updates, and lesson information, helping parents stay connected and reinforcing learning at home. The Wren’s Nest also conducts quarterly Kindergarten Readiness Assessments for children ages 3–5 and uses parent feedback surveys to maintain high-quality programming and continuous improvement.

Supporting Child Nutrition and Wellness

The Wren’s Nest participates in the federal CACFP program, providing nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. A registered dietitian reviews menus and offers nutrition education to families, ensuring children receive balanced meals while supporting healthy habits beyond the classroom.

Next Steps & Enrollment Timeline

The Wren’s Nest and the City of Danville will begin preparing the Jennie Rogers Community Center for childcare operations over the coming months, pending a final written agreement. The Wren’s Nest plans to open the registration process for families in late spring or early summer of 2026. Additional updates regarding enrollment dates, staffing, and program availability will be shared as the project progresses.
