Pine Knob Trail Project begins

Exciting new things are officially underway in Boyle County! On January 12, community leaders and partners gathered at Alum Springs to celebrate the groundbreaking of Pine Knob Trails, a future mountain bike park and trail system designed to encourage healthy outdoor activity for residents and attract visitors to the area.

The Pine Knob Trails project is a collaborative effort championed by Magistrate Paula Bodner and supported through a partnership between the Boyle County Fiscal Court, City of Danville, Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation, and the Danville Boyle County Trails Alliance. Together, these organizations are bringing a vision of “adventure as wellness” to life in Boyle County.

Tommy Barton, Director of Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation, attended the ceremony and emphasized the long-term impact this project will have on recreation opportunities, youth engagement, and quality of life throughout the community.

Commissioner Donna Peek also shared remarks on behalf of the City of Danville, expressing enthusiasm for the project and the city’s excitement to see continued investment in amenities that strengthen community pride, promote wellness, and support economic growth.

Located on Pine Knob above the Alum Springs Convenience Center, the new trail system will feature walking, hiking, and mountain biking options for all experience levels. In addition to providing outdoor recreation opportunities, the project is expected to support tourism, host competitive events, and keep more local spending within Boyle County.

With construction now underway, the community can look forward to regular updates as Pine Knob Trails begins to take shape.
