Engineering & Public Services
The Public Services Departments encompasses City Engineering, Public Works, Cemeteries, Stormwater Management, and coordinates trash & recycling collection through Republic Services, in partnership with Boyle County Solid Waste & Recycling. Find services below.
The City of Danville's Public Works Department maintains city-owned streets in the city limits of Danville. While the City cannot make repairs on county or state highways, we are happy to advocate for improvements. Please report any issues.
To know if your street is city-maintained, please take a look at this map. When you zoom in to your location, the City owned streets will be defined by an orange line. To report issues on state roads, please contact KYTC District 7.
The 2025-2026 Leaf Collection Schedule is now available!
Check it out.
Things to know:
Watch our Leaf Collection Video here
How it works:
Place your leaves in piles between the curb and sidewalk. If there is not enough room, place the leaf pile in the yard next to the sidewalk. Do not block the sidewalk. Do not place leaves in drainage ditches and do not place them on the street. Do not put limbs or other yard debris in the leaf piles and DO NOT put leaves in bags.
The provided schedule is weather-dependent. Please have your leaves properly placed by your scheduled collection day but understand there may be delays due to weather or mechanical issues. Catch-up days are scheduled to adjust for any issues that may arise.
Sidewalk maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner. However, the City Engineer will work with you to address sidewalk issues. Please contact the Engineering Department.

Once leaves are collected in the fall they are sent to the City's land farm on Old Stanford Rd. In the Spring (generally on the Saturday nearest Earth Day), the City invites residents to collect the composted leaves. Please look for announcements in the Spring!
An Active Mobility Plan is an all-encompassing plan to address human powered movement throughout the City including walking, running, and the use of bicycles, electric bikes, wheelchairs, scooters, skateboards, etc. The City of Danville has worked with the Danville-Boyle County Trails Alliance to develop an initial framework of projects, but a more community-wide outreach approach is needed to ensure that everyday use by all members of our community is addressed.
Please contribute to the development of this active mobility plan by completing the survey. The survey provides a way for all residents of Danville to identify the destinations that they would like to reach from their homes by walking or cycling. Using this data, the City will develop a map that identifies the areas most in need of improvements to make these trips safer and shorter.
