The City of Danville is piloting a Downtown Danville Entertainment District (DDED) alcohol license which allows folks to take their drinks "to go" while they enjoy downtown Danville on foot.
April 21st is the first run through on the DDED and we hope to activate it for each of the subsequent Third Thursdays events.
Here's what you need to know:
⭐ Drinks must be purchased from licensed premises within the DDED (You can't bring your own!).
⭐ Drinks must be served and consumed from a designated cup (they'll be provided by the establishments).
⭐ The Entertainment District for April 21st is limited to two blocks of Main Street (2nd Street to Fourth Street) and two blocks of Fourth Street (from Broadway to Walnut) and is only active from 5pm to 8pm. There will be signage indicating the boundaries of the DDED.
⭐ You can't take your drink into any other businesses - the DDED applies only to the sidewalks and public spaces of the downtown area.
So, you could grab a cocktail from Plank on Main after your exercise class and meander down to Weisiger Plaza to drink it. On the way, something in the window of Maple Tree Gallery or ALaccessories  might catch your eye, so you hand the drink to your friend, who waits outside while you pop inside to shop.
Or you could snag a hotdog from Captain Franks Hotdog Emporium Food Truck food truck, pick up a beer at gypsyrunbrewsky , and dine al fresco in the Art Lot behind Art Center of the Bluegrass before exploring Hearth & Easel.
Drink responsibly! All state and local laws are strictly enforced in the DDED including public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
