Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation seeking sponsorships for Jennie Rogers Community Center

In May 2021, The City of Danville purchased the former Jennie Rogers Elementary School at 401 E Main Street, with the goal of renovating, and providing a service-focused community center that would allow expanded programming and additional recreation opportunities for the entire community.

A portion of the community center was leased by Boyle County Schools for the development of the Boyle County Early Learning Center, an early childhood education facility, open to all families with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. The Boyle County Early Learning Center is now enrolling for Fall 2024. Learn more about the Boyle County Early Learning Center here: Early Learning Center - Boyle County Schools (kyschools.us)

The remaining areas of the Jennie Rogers Community Center will be managed by the Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation Department. The facility has been operating with a gymnasium and stage where programs like youth basketball and pickleball are held, and a cafeteria for meetings and concessions.

In late summer 2024, renovations on the remaining classroom spaces are expected to be complete. These classrooms, and program areas, will offer space for community partners like the Arts Commission of Danville-Boyle County, who will provide educational opportunities, or recreational programs to serve the entire community! To fill these classrooms, and allow for expanded programs, the Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation is seeking room sponsorships and donations of supplies, technology and more.

The Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation Department issued this request for sponsorships on June 12th:

"The City of Danville and the Danville Boyle County Parks and Recreation are excited to be nearly completed with the remodeling and opening of Jennie Rogers Community Center. The City has invested nearly 3 million on this project. The Center will be service oriented, not revenue based. General use of the facility will be free. The Jennie Rogers Community Center will serve a vital role and fill a gap in youth services that is much needed in our community.

To finish the project, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  We are currently seeking room sponsors to fill each room with furniture, arts and craft supplies, computers , traditional games such as ping pong, foosball, etc.  Plus video games and a new scoreboard for gym.

If you or your business would like to be a room sponsor, please contact Parks and Rec at 859-238-1233. Sponsors receive a room plaque and a banner in the gym.  HELP US MAKE THIS FACILITY COME TO LIFE!,  We need the community's help!"
