Mission Possible: 2025 MLK Community Celebration Recap

The frigid temperatures on Monday didn't keep the Danville community from coming together in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. during the 2025 MLK Community Celebration.

Community members met at City Hall at 9:00 a.m. to March to Norton Center for the Arts where they enjoyed a social hour with entertainment by Michaelfly and the Sounds, along with Kirsten Carey of The Carey Band.

The Convocation that followed included a performance by the Danville High School/Boyle County High School Combined Choir, poetry readings by Centre College students and the first and second place winners of the Frank X Walker Creative Arts Festival Student Art and Poetry contest from Danville High school. The keynote speaker was Rev. Daniel Corrie Shull who challenged the audience to be active participants in creating positive change in the world. To wrap up the program, three Spirit of Martin Luther King Jr Awards were presented to community members Glo Lewis, Clay Taylor and Kasey Montgomery. You can watch the full program below.

Special thanks to Danville's MLK Committee a great program!
