US 150 Corridor Large Diameter Water Main Capacity Project (Regional Partnership)

Overview

Based on it geographic location and access to Herrington Lake raw water supply, the City of Danville currently provides water service to Garrard County, Hustonville, Lake Village, North Mercer, Parksville, Stanford and soon Springfield and McKinney.  With its reputation of drinking water provision and capacity, the City of Danville has been approached by multiple interested parties to the east along the US 150 corridor regarding drinking water needs.  The City of Danville could hydraulically provide additional drinking water capacity to Stanford, Crab Orchard, Broadead, and Mt. Vernon.  This would allow those same water providers to use their current capacity to address local needs while facilitating an abundance of water availability from Danville to further important economic growth and sanitary drinking water for all customers.  To date, economic development along the US 150 Corridor has been stifled due to lack of critical drinking water infrastructure.  Such has also caused strain on aforementioned water utilities to not only meet growing demand, but maintain service for its customers during weather and existing infrastructure outages.

Water provision between Danville and Mt. Vernon is critical for economic development and regulatory adherence for this corridor through Boyle, Lincoln, and Rockcastle Counties.
