Downtown Danville has approximately 90 light post banners on display. The latest design celebrates Danville as "The City of Firsts", as the home of Kentucky's first capital and first courthouse (among other "firsts") when Kentucky became the Unions 15th state in 1792. The current standard banner was designed by local artist, Brandon Long.

Non-profit community organizations may request banners to be displayed on all, or a portion of, the light posts for a period of time. Some local organizations you might notice are:
Centre College Commencement - Displayed on Main Street through Campus (typically in May)
Art Center of the Bluegrass - throughout Downtown Danville (Fall, October - November)

Any organization that wishes to have banners displayed must:

  • Request Banner Installation by e-mailing us  or calling 859-238-1200, including an image of the design, the requested duration of your display, and the locations you wish for them to be placed. The standard banner size is 27"X59"
  • The request will be presented to the City Commission prior to installation for approval
  • Once approved, the organization will be responsible for printing the banners and delivering them to the Public Works Building, 2nd Street. Allow ample time for installation.
  • Banners must be collected from Public Works once removed.

To place a banner at the front of City Hall, please submit your request by e-mail with the image of your proposed design attached. Typical dimensions for these banners are 3' x 10'  - Commission approval required.
