The City of Danville secures a $1.2 million federal grant to support airport expansion
The City of Danville is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $1.2 million federal grant which will fund the relocation of the access road to the Danville-Boyle County Airport.
The Danville-Boyle County Airport is a unique and valuable resource for Boyle County and the surrounding communities. The Airport’s facilities and services are highly respected within the aviation community.
Future expansion or development of the airport is currently hindered by the location of the existing access road. Relocation of the road to the east side of the property will provide opportunities for the Airport to develop additional hangars and taxiways, and other on-air services by improving access to approximately 15 acres of usable land.
The City of Danville also believes relocating the access road provides incentive for industrial property development to the east of the airport property, which would greatly compliment the airport and enhance economic opportunity in the area.
The City of Danville would like to thank those who have supported this effort including Danville Boyle County Airport Board and Staff and the Boyle County Fiscal Court, as well as Representative Brett Guthrie, whose interest in our community during his time of service to Danville was vital to securing these funds.
