2023 Citizen's Academy
Chief's Greeting
Welcome to the Danville Police Department (DPD). The DPD is committed to providing the most professional law enforcement and public safety services possible to those within our jurisdiction. The officers of the DPD are dedicated to promoting public and vehicular safety, preserving the peace, and minimizing the fear of crime in our community.
In an effort to better serve our fellow citizens and guests, all Danville Police Department officers are directed to focus on five key departmental priorities:

Chief Tony Gray
Anthony Gray, Jr. is the Police Chief in Danville. The Danville Police Department is an accredited agency. The Danville Police Department's mission is to improve the quality of life in Danville by working together with all citizens to preserve life, maintain human rights, protect property, and promote public safety.
Community Services
The purpose of the Citizen's Academy is to provide the citizens of Danville with a better understanding of the capabilities of the Danville Police Department and to facilitate a partnership with the community.
The Danville Police Department believes the Citizens Academy will increase the community's awareness and understanding of law enforcement capabilities (and limitations) thereby promoting more realistic expectations. It is also our belief that through a positive and informative medium, a strong partnership will develop between members of the community and the Police Department to make Danville a safe environment in which to live and work.
The Citizen's Academy is not intended for those desiring to become police officers. However, anyone interested in a career in law enforcement would benefit from this generalized view of policing.

Unused or expired medication can pose a risk to children, family members, and the environment. It can also be misused or abused, leading to serious complications, overdose, even death.
You can dispose of the unused or expired medication safely, easily, confidentially, and for free in a Drug Collection Kiosk at the Danville Police Department. The kiosk is open to all residents, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm with no questions asked. This is a safe, effective, and sustainable way to dispose of prescription substances.

- Liquids in glass or leak-proof containers
- Over-the-Counter medications
- Pet medications
- Pills, capsules, inhalers, ointment, and patches
- Prescription medications
- Sample medications
- Vitamins
What Cannot Be Collected
- Aerosol cans
- Bloody or infectious waste
- Needles/sharps
- Thermometers
